Storytelling Sunday: Peonies

Hello everyone,

It's the first Sunday of the month, the moment to share our precious things at Sian's "From High in the Sky" for Storytelling Sunday. This month's theme has to do with travel.

This morning, I went to the farmer's market and by chance, I noticed a bouquet of peonies.  You might wonder what could be the link with travel. For me, the connexion between these 2 themes is instantaneous: it transported me back to my time in Portland, OR.
A few days before leaving Portland, I was feeling blue to return to France so I bought myself a gorgeous bouquet of peonies in a really expensive flower boutique (I had never indulged in anything like that before) to soften the pain of going.
To this day, I still remember these flowers, so when I saw some today, I thought it was high time I bought some again (it's been 9 years…).
They are opening up, so I couldn't NOT think about this quote by my favorite journaler, Anais Nin:

"And the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."

I thought about it because it applied to the bouquet itself first but also because it reflects how I feel right now. Perfect timing. Synchronicity.
What's your most precious thing? If you feel like answering, head to Sian's blog or just grab a cup of something and read the other contributions.
